gisR Espresso Course by Tom Edwards
The dates and times for the gisR Espresso evening sessions will be TU 31 Mar and TH 2 Apr, 1800-200 hr. Depending on interest, the session could continue at the Bull's Head, Blue Square. All sessions will be held in NR 217, which has ~35-40 seats. First come, first seated. PLEASE bring a fully charged battery for your laptop. Even though I'll bring some extension cords and power strips, there are limited outlets in the room. Also, please confirm your attendance in an email back to me (t.edwards@usu.edu) so I can make a class list and stop sending these announcements as global emails. I will send out details for downloading course material several days before the sessions. Last, if you have anything you'd like me to attempt to cover, send it to me ASAP and/or stop and visit. Watch Those Podcasts...
Remember, last Thursday and tomorrow (Tuesday) are Podcasts instead of in-person lectures (see calendar). You can find the Podcasts under the specific topic pages.... in the same place you find lecture slides. For those of you that means nothing to... here's a video: |
Class Forum is NOT Down - Check Your Browser Address Bar
Thanks for letting us know that it appeared the class forum was not accessible. What appears to have been the case is that the forum was never actually down but many people's browsers were automatically switching your URLs from http to https (i.e. secure). If you are in this boat, there is NO forum at https://forum.bluezone.usu.edu/gis/. However, the forum IS at http://forum.bluezone.usu.edu/gis/. There are security add-ins for both Chrome and Firefox that attempt to assign most or all URLs to secure https for conservative security measures and to prevent you from using regular http. The problem is NOT all websites are set up to deliver content in both traditional http or https and our forum is not. You should be able to override this by retyping the URL in the search bar or changing your add-in or browser settings. |
